Eczema Treatments

The important things that you need to know about alternative therapies are that not all treatments work the same for everybody. There are the basic treatments that everybody should use, but it can be expected that not all people will be affected the same by each treatment.

As an example, it is given that breastfeeding has an effect on eczema and the immune system of a growing baby. Person one was breastfed, while person two was raised on another formula. This would mean that the immune systems in these two people are likely to be very different, and because of this single difference the outcomes of eczema treatments can be affected.

You should also be informed of the importance of not mixing alternative and prescribed medications without your doctor being aware that you are “mixing” treatments. You have no idea how an uncontrolled mix might work. It is danger that you do not need to expose yourself to.

You also want to be very careful not to stop a treatment that a doctor has prescribed without his knowledge. Prescribed treatments if terminated before it has done its work can be a cause for extreme backlash. In these cases where a treatment was stopped before the infection was cured, the infection was able to increase at a rate that made it harder to stop.

When researching alternative eczema treatments, you will find that there is not as much scientific evidence concerning their use as there are for the mainline eczema treatments. The reason for this is that the medical industry tends to work more closely with the pharmaceutical industry, and that doctors do not do research, and are even unlikely to comment on alternative sources of medicine.

Lastly, be aware that just because a label says natural that does not mean it is good for you. For example; table salt is a natural salt but it is not good for you, it will pull water out of your skin. Bath salts good for eczema are also natural salts, but they are good for your skin because it will replenish moisture. This means that you need to know about whether something is good for you if it is natural or not.
